Teach It, Embed It, or Release It: Restructuring How You Teach Community Dental Health

Community dental health is a difficult course to teach. The content is enormous, the credit hours are not, and students can find the volume overwhelming.

This session presents a method for restructuring the course by working backward from what the national board examination tests. Content is sorted into three categories: taught in the classroom, embedded into other courses, or assigned for independent student learning.

The result is students who retain what they need for their careers, students who are prepared for the national board examination, and instructors who teach with confidence in what they kept and what they cut.

Participants leave with the framework and a one-page worksheet to apply to their own course.
