Celebrating Dental Health Month: A Big Thank-You to Dental Hygiene Educators

Mar 02, 2025

February isn’t just about heart-shaped candies and love notes—it’s also Dental Health Month, and we’re here for it! As a dental hygiene educator, you play a huge role in shaping the future of oral health, and we want to take a moment to celebrate you.

At Cloud Dentistry, we know you’re doing the important work—teaching, mentoring, and inspiring the next generation of dental hygienists. That’s why this month, we’re offering free CE courses for you among other exciting opportunities for your students. Let’s get into it!

Free CE Courses—Because Learning Never Stops

You’re always encouraging your students to keep learning, and we want to do the same for you. This month, we’re offering two free CE courses to help you and your students stay on top of best practices and patient care:

🦷 OSHA & Bloodborne Pathogens for the Dental Team
📅 February 11 | ⏰ 7-9 PM CST | Hosted by Penny Maurer
A refresher on safety protocols to keep you and your students protected.

🦷 Parts, Pieces, Chemistry & Compatibility – Dental Hygiene Considerations for Implant Maintenance
📅 February 18 | ⏰ 7-8:30 PM EST | Hosted by Lynn Pencek
Help your students understand implant maintenance and the science behind compatibility.

Two great opportunities to earn CE credits and bring valuable knowledge back to your classroom!

How Educators & Community Programs Are Changing Oral Health

Dental hygiene education is about more than just teaching techniques—you’re shaping how future professionals advocate for their patients and communities. That’s why we want to shout out some amazing initiatives that are making a difference:

Give Kids a Smile Day (February 7th) – Huge thanks to all the programs that participated! This event is one of the best ways to support children’s oral health and raise awareness.

Smiles for Miles Mobile Dental Clinic – Providing care to underserved communities and giving students real-world exposure to public health dentistry.

Oral Cancer Foundation Annual Walks – Raising awareness and funding for research and early detection.

Smiles Por Vida – A bilingual children’s book about oral health, written by Amber Lovatos and Maxine Cordova.

We see you, and we appreciate everything you do!

Encourage Your Students to Sign Up for These Events

This month isn’t just about celebrating dental health—it’s also about helping students succeed. Here are a couple of must-attend events for them:

🎤 FREE Student Webinar: Local Anesthesia Board Review
📅 Feb. 19th from 7-8pm CT | Hosted by Paige McEvoy
Perfect for students getting ready for boards! Make sure they sign up for this one.

🎉 Virtual Trivia Night – Hosted by StudentRDH
📅 February 4 from 6-7pm CT
A fun way for students to test their dental knowledge and be entered to win a big prize (plus bragging rights).

If your students are looking for ways to prepare for exams, reinforce their learning, or just connect with peers, these are great opportunities to share with them!

How You Can Promote Dental Health This Month

If you’re looking for ways to engage your students and community, here are a few easy ways to celebrate Dental Health Month:
✔️ Host a classroom discussion on patient communication and oral health literacy.
✔️ Encourage students to share oral hygiene tips with their patients during clinic sessions.
✔️ Organize a mini dental fair or awareness event at a local school or community center.

Even small efforts can make a big impact—and your influence as an educator is what makes it happen!

Thank You for All That You Do

Dental hygiene educators are shaping the future of oral health, and we see you. Whether you’re mentoring students through their first patient experience, supporting public health initiatives, or keeping up with the latest in dental research, your work matters.

We’re honored to support you this Dental Health Month (and every month). Keep inspiring, keep teaching, and most importantly—keep smiling! 😊
